The 700 range is tuned strictly for the voice. The driver is smaller than on the 500 range, 28 mm against 30 mm, and the microphone band narrower, 100 Hz to 6.8 kHz. That is not an omission, it is deliberate: in a contact centre what matters is intelligibility, not music.

The boom is routed clear of the agent's peripheral vision
SoundGuard hearing protection, sound limited below 118 dBA
Description
The top tier for contact centres
The EncorePro 700 is the summit of the Poly corded contact centre offering. Against the 500 range it adds an extendable boom that adapts to the shape of the face, leatherette ear cushions instead of foam, and a build of premium nylon composites. The boom is additionally routed so that it stays clear of the agent's peripheral vision, which in a full day at a monitor is a difference you notice only after a few hours.
Why it has a smaller driver than the cheaper range
It may look like a mistake, but it is not. The 700 range has a 28 mm driver against 30 mm on the 500 and a narrower microphone band, 100 Hz to 6.8 kHz against 20 Hz to 16 kHz. HP tunes this range strictly for the human voice. A narrower band means less noise and better intelligibility, because nothing that does not help the call is carried. It is not for music or system sounds, though, and that needs saying to the customer upfront.
Four codes, two branches
The HW710 and 720 have a QD connector and need an adapter or cable. The 715 and 725 have a USB-A connector, plug straight into a computer and carry call control on the cable. Code 8R708AA#ABB, that is the HW710, is the only one in the range with a carrying case in the box. Codes 715 and 725 are TAA versions.
Strengths and limits
Strengths
Extendable boom from 120 to 145 mm, adapting to the shape of the face
Leatherette ear cushions, easier to clean and better at shutting out the room
The boom is routed clear of the agent's peripheral vision
Premium nylon composites, a build made for years
Limits and what to tell the customer
Without an adapter or a QD cable the headset is unusable. It must be ordered separately, according to what it plugs into.
The driver is smaller than on the 500 range, 28 mm against 30 mm, and the microphone band narrower. That is deliberate, but it is not for music.
The box holds no adapter and no cable, only the headset and a carrying case.
We do not state platform certification for the QD codes.
⚑ atlantis note
The cable always belongs in the quote, or the customer will call
The most common complaint about QD headsets is not a fault but a missing cable. The customer opens the box and has nothing to plug into. So put an adapter or a cable into every quote that carries a QD code. Ask what it plugs into: a computer means the DA75 or DA85, a desk phone means a QD to plug cable chosen by brand, and both at once means an MDA switch.
The narrower band is an argument, not a shortcoming
When the customer compares specifications and sees that the more expensive 700 range has a smaller driver and a narrower band than the 500, it looks like a step back. Explain that the 700 is tuned strictly for the voice and that a narrower band means less carried noise. If the customer also listens to music or system sounds on the same headset, the 500 range with a USB connector is the better fit.
The extendable boom is worth demonstrating
On paper the difference between a fixed and an extendable boom is ten millimetres, but in practice it means an agent with a different face shape can still position the microphone. On larger deployments lend a unit to try, the argument sells better on the head than in a table.
Who it suits
Recommended use | a contact centre headset with excellent noise cancelling for accurate voice interactions and fewer repeats, with all-day comfort and built-in control |
|---|---|
Position in the portfolio | corded contact centre headsets, EncorePro 700 range, the top of the three |
How it differs from the 500 range | an extendable boom, leatherette ear cushions instead of foam and premium nylon composites; conversely it has a smaller driver and a narrower microphone band, because it is tuned strictly for the voice |
Suitable
Key contact centre workplaces where call intelligibility is the main metric and the headset is worn all shift. Environments with higher hygiene demands, where leatherette cushions fit.
Verify
What the headset plugs into and pick the adapter or cable accordingly. Whether agents also listen to audio other than calls on the same headset, in which case the 500 range on USB fits better. Monaural or stereo. Whether the customer needs a carrying case.
Consider another model
EncorePro 500 for a wider band and four wearing styles, EncorePro 300 for a more affordable volume deployment, Savi 7300 for a wireless contact centre, Blackwire 3300 for an ordinary office.
The “Verify” and “Consider another model” cards come from the experience of the atlantis team.

What to verify before ordering and deploying
Cable or adapter: required with a QD code, without it the customer cannot connect the headset
What is listened to on the headset: calls only, or other audio too, in which case the 500 range on USB fits better
Configuration: monaural when the agent needs to hear colleagues, stereo when the room needs shutting out
Carrying case: this code is the only one in the range with one in the box
Ear cushions: the 700 range has its own codes, 85R27AA leatherette and 85R24AA foam, not interchangeable with the lower ranges
TAA version: codes 783N5AA and 783M6AA are TAA, codes 8R707AA#ABB and 8R708AA#ABB are not
The atlantis team helps with every point. From picking the adapter by phone, through lending a sample to try, to supplying consumables.
Management and services
Poly Lens: on the USB codes inventory, bulk settings and firmware updates; the QD codes are managed through the attached adapter or switch
Poly+ Partner: local support from an experienced certified team in Czech, by phone, chat, web and video call, priority device replacement in which the manufacturer ships the replacement part the next business day and pays the shipping, all under the terms of the programme and for its whole validity, so care can continue even after the warranty ends
atlantis deployment: designing the headset plus adapter combination for the workplace, lending a sample, bulk configuration and training the agents
Warranty
Standard two-year limited HP Poly warranty. Extended support with expedited replacement is provided by the Poly+ Partner programme.
Frequently asked questions
Can I plug the headset straight into a computer?
No. This code has a QD connector, that is a break-away, not USB. It needs a DA75, DA85 or DA85-M adapter, or an MDA switch. If you want to plug in directly, order code 783N5AA for monaural or 783M6AA for stereo.
Why does the more expensive range have a smaller driver than the 500?
Because it is tuned strictly for the voice. A 28 mm driver and a microphone band of 100 Hz to 6.8 kHz mean less carried noise and better call intelligibility. For listening to music or system sounds the 500 range with a USB connector fits better.
What is the extendable boom for?
It lets the microphone-to-mouth distance be set between 120 and 145 mm, so an agent with a different face shape can adapt it too. The boom is additionally routed so that it stays clear of peripheral vision.
Is a carrying case in the box?
Yes, this code is the only one in the 700 range with a carrying case in the box. The other codes contain the headset alone.
Which ear cushions should I order?
The 700 range has its own codes, leatherette 85R27AA and foam 85R24AA, both in pairs including mounting plates. They are not interchangeable with the cushions of the lower EncorePro ranges.
