Description

A room microphone, not a portable speakerphone

The CP50 is a conference omnidirectional microphone, that is part of the room's audio. It is not a device to carry in a bag with a laptop, which is the role of the CP900, CP700 and SP92. The CP50 stays on the table, connects into the system and handles voice pickup where the camera has no microphone of its own.

One unit for six metres, more units for a longer table

The unit picks up across 360 degrees to a distance of 6 metres, so it covers an ordinary meeting table from a single spot. For a longer table or an awkward room Yealink allows daisy chaining over a network cable with PoE power, up to eight units. Extending the coverage is therefore a matter of another unit and a cable, not of replacing the whole system.

Two ways to connect, depending on what the room has

To a computer the CP50 connects over USB; into a system it connects over Ethernet, either to a conference terminal or to a UVC camera. In the UVC85-BYOD-200 system the manufacturer describes exactly this wiring: one USB-C cable from the computer to the CP50 and one network cable between the CP50 and the camera. The laptop therefore sees both the camera and the room audio over a single cable.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • 360-degree pickup up to 6 metres from one spot on the table

  • Up to eight units chained over a network cable with PoE, extension without replacing the system

  • Two ways to connect, USB to a computer or Ethernet into a system

  • The adapter and all cables, including 7.5 m of Ethernet, are in the box

Limits and what to tell the customer

  • The CP50 is not a replacement for the CP900. It is a room microphone, not a portable speakerphone. A customer who wants to carry the device around should be offered the CP900, CP700 or SP92.

  • The CP50 is a microphone and has no speaker. Playing audio into the room has to be handled by another part of the system or by the display.

  • The CP50 connects over USB-C and Ethernet. It has no Bluetooth, so the unit does not belong in a specification where a wireless connection is a requirement.

  • Mind the cables in the box. The USB-C cable is 1.2 m; the 1.8 m cable is HDMI. For a greater distance from the computer, plan your own cabling.

  • There is one power adapter in the box. When chaining further units, settle the power for the specific system, and we will confirm it.

⚑ atlantis note

When the CP50 and when a portable speakerphone

What decides is whether the device stays in the room. The CP50 is a fixed part of the system, connects over Ethernet to a camera or a terminal and can be chained. The portable CP900, CP700 and SP92 are a user's peripheral. The word "speakerphone" invites confusion with the CP50, but the CP50 is not a speakerphone, it is a microphone.

The system or separate codes

Where the customer needs a camera and audio for a medium or large room, compare the 1106896 system (UVC85-BYOD-200) against the separate codes. The system holds two boxes, the UVC85 camera and the CP50 microphone, each with its own adapter and its own 7.5 m Ethernet cable.

Settle a longer table up front

Pickup reaches 6 metres. A longer table calls for another CP50 unit and a network cable with PoE between the units, with up to eight of them. Agree it during the design, because pulling a cable through the table afterwards means a second site visit.

Good fit

A medium or large meeting room with a camera and audio system, a room where the audio should be picked up from the middle of the table, and BYOD use where the laptop connects with a single USB-C cable.

Verify

How long the meeting table is, because of the number of units. How the network cable will run between the unit and the camera. Where the socket for the power adapter is. What will play the audio into the room. Whether the customer also has their own display and computer for the camera.

Consider another model

The CP900, CP700 or SP92 where the device is meant to be portable. The CP965 where the room has its own telephone line. The UVC34 or UVC40 E2 video bar in a small room, where camera, microphones and speaker should sit in one body.

The "Verify" and "Consider another model" cards come from the experience of the atlantis team.

What to check before ordering and deploying

  1. Table length: pickup reaches 6 metres, a longer table calls for another unit

  2. Chaining: a network cable with PoE between units, up to eight of them

  3. Wiring: USB to a computer, or Ethernet to a camera or conference terminal

  4. Cables: the box holds 1.2 m of USB-C, 7.5 m of Ethernet and 1.8 m of HDMI; longer runs need your own cabling

  5. Power: a socket for the 48 V adapter at every unit

  6. Audio playback: the CP50 is a microphone, so another part of the system plays audio into the room

  7. Camera: which model the unit will complement, and whether the 1106896 system is the better buy

  8. Cable routing: a grommet in the table and the placement of the unit; the cable cover and ties are in the box

The atlantis team will help with every point. On the CP50 most often with working out the number of units for the shape of the table and with linking it to the chosen camera.

Management and services

  • Management follows the platform: in native mode the device is managed from the administration of the platform the room runs.

  • Yealink Management Cloud Service (YMCS): cloud management of Yealink devices, that is bulk firmware updates, status monitoring and alerts. Support and the scope of management differ by model and licence, so check both with us for the specific device and system.

atlantis services for partners

atlantis is a direct importer and distributor, and we deliver projects through a network of specialist partners. The services below are therefore offered to the partner, not to the end customer. The partner sets the scope. On one project we take on the whole delivery, on another we cover just the part the partner currently lacks capacity or specialisation for, and on a third the partner manages alone and uses us only for a consultation.

  • Before the decision: a consultation on choosing the system and a comparison of the suitable options. The recommendation is built on the size and the character of the room, that is light, acoustics, shape, seating layout and furnishing, then on headcount and on how meetings are actually run there. We offer a live demonstration at our premises, which the partner can bring their customer to, and where it is warranted a test installation, that is a proof of concept.

  • Delivery and installation: transport, professional mounting and the work that goes with it, that is cabling, installation material, brackets and room alterations. We handle the installation in full, or support the partner's own team where needed.

  • Network readiness and security: we advise on preparing the network for the demands of two-way real-time video, that is throughput, latency and traffic prioritisation, and on securing the communication.

  • Configuration and integration: setting up the communication platform and the room account, connecting to the network, and advice on linking and integrating third-party software and hardware.

  • Training and documentation: training prepared to match the user's role, that is one thing for room users and another for administrators, plus preparation of both project and user documentation.

  • Service and support after the sale: our certified team in Czech, available to the partner throughout the equipment's life. We handle a warranty claim with the manufacturer on the partner's behalf.

Warranty

The standard warranty on Yealink products is 24 months. On top of it we offer two different things that are easy to confuse.

Extended warranty

AMS

Extends the warranty period, that is how long the customer is entitled to repair or replacement of a faulty unit. The abbreviation stands for Assurance Maintenance Services.

1 to 3 years

Service programme

PrimeCare

Changes how the service is delivered. It covers priority support with escalation during business hours, advance hardware replacement with the unit dispatched the next business day from local European service stock, warranty service aligned with the licence period, the YMCS-Room-Professional package, software updates and access to the Yealink online support centre.

2 to 5 years

Take note

Which one to pick

A customer buys one of them, not both. AMS is enough where a longer warranty is all that is needed, PrimeCare is the choice where room downtime is expensive and the customer needs fast replacement and management. For video products the cap on total warranty is five years, and AMS is bought consecutively, so it must not leave a gap at the end of the existing warranty.
