Description
A meeting room where a laptop is all you bring
Poly Sync 60 addresses the case where the customer needs good audio in a meeting room but does not want to build a full room system with its own account and management. The speakerphone connects by cable to a laptop or wirelessly to a phone, and the meeting runs in the user's own application. For the customer this means a low entry cost, no licences and no dependency on a single communication platform.
Six microphones for the whole table
Poly Sync 60 has six microphones arranged in a steerable array that picks up voices at a range of up to 3 metres and focuses on the speaker rather than on surrounding noise. Two 50 mm speakers with bass reflex and passive radiators cover a frequency response of 75 Hz to 20 kHz, so the device also works for playing video or a presentation with sound. The recommended room size is up to 6 × 6 metres.
Two units for a longer table
If the table exceeds the recommended pickup range, two units can be linked wirelessly by pressing the link button on both devices. According to the manufacturer's user guide a Sync 40 can also be linked with a Sync 60, which helps when the customer already owns one unit. Audio then plays through both units at once, or in stereo mode.
Management and firmware
Settings and firmware updates are handled by the Poly Lens desktop application; Poly mobile applications do not support this device.
Strengths and limits
Strengths
Six microphones and a 3 m pickup range, the most in the Sync range
Two 50 mm speakers and 95 dB SPL, enough audio for a larger room
Platform independent, works with any application on the customer's laptop
Standard two-year limited manufacturer warranty
Limits worth telling the customer
Mains powered only, the device has no battery and no PoE. A power outlet is needed at the table.
This is not a room system. The meeting is always run by the user's laptop or phone, the device does not sign in to a room account.
Unlike Sync 10, Sync 20 and Sync 40 it has no IP64 rating, it is not intended to be carried between rooms.
A Bluetooth adapter for the computer is not included, the device connects to a computer by cable. The BT700 adapter can be ordered separately.
⚑ atlantis note
Version
Code 772C2AA is the universal version. For an environment built on Microsoft Teams order 77P41AA. Mixing up the universal and the Teams version is the most common ordering mistake across the Sync range, the devices are otherwise identical.
Power
Sync 60 is mains powered and has no battery. The position of the outlet or the table power feed needs to be resolved during room design, not at installation time.
Bluetooth to a computer
Sync 60 connects to a laptop with the included cable. If the customer wants a wireless connection to the computer, order the BT700 adapter, 786C4AA for USB-A or 786C5AA for USB-C. The older BT600 adapters (85Q81AA, 85Q85AA) have been discontinued by the manufacturer and are only available while stock lasts.
Room fit
Recommended room size | up to 6 × 6 m |
|---|---|
Microphone pickup range | 3 m |
Extending to a longer table | wireless link between two units |
Typical deployment | meeting room, boardroom with own laptops, training room |
Good fit
Meeting room up to 6 × 6 m where users run meetings from their own laptops, different applications depending on the other party, and a requirement for quick deployment without licences and without managing a room account.
Check the design
A longer or irregular table where the most distant participant sits beyond 3 m (a second unit solves this), hard acoustics, air-conditioning noise, no power outlet at the table. We are happy to review it.
Consider another model
For a huddle room and for carrying between rooms choose Sync 40 with its battery, for personal use Sync 20 or Sync 10. If the customer wants a full room system with its own account, offer Poly Studio X32 or X52.
Connection and modes of use
Recommended for a meeting room
By cable to a laptop
The device appears as a USB speaker and microphone. The meeting runs in whatever application the user has on their device, with no drivers to install.
USB-A
USB-C via adapter
For phones and guests
Wirelessly over Bluetooth
Direct pairing with a phone or tablet, wireless range up to 30 m. To a computer wirelessly through the separately ordered BT700 adapter.
Bluetooth 5.1
For a longer table
Linking two units
Two units link wirelessly with a button and cover a larger space. According to the manufacturer's guide a Sync 40 can also be linked with a Sync 60.
Wireless link
Poly Sync 60 is not a room system, it does not sign in to a room account and has no meeting application of its own. It is always the audio device of a connected computer or phone, which is also the reason it works with any communication platform.
