Overview

A large room without a room system

Poly Studio V72 is a USB video bar for large meeting rooms, training rooms and halls. It connects to a laptop with a single USB-C cable and the meeting runs in whatever application the user has on their computer. The customer buys no licences, manages no room account and is not tied to a single communication platform.

Two cameras for a long room

The optics are the key difference from the smaller models. Studio V72 has two 20 megapixel cameras, one with a wide 140° diagonal field of view for the overall shot and one with a narrower 78° diagonal field of view for close-ups of more distant participants. The Poly DirectorAI smart camera switches between them, frames individuals and the whole group and tracks the active speaker. The microphones pick up voices up to 7.62 metres away.

This is not a room system

Studio V72 has no native Teams, Zoom or Google Meet application and does not sign in to a room account. It is always the camera, microphones and speakers of the connected computer. The behaviour of the connectors follows from that, see Connectivity and power. If the customer wants a room system for a large meeting room, that is the Poly Studio X72.

Audio for a large space

The speaker system combines mid-bass drivers with 83 dB sensitivity and a tweeter with 89 dB sensitivity. The microphone array pairs two digital MEMS microphones with two second-order directional microphones with -26 dB sensitivity.

Limits and what to tell the customer

This is not a room system. The meeting is always run by the connected computer, the device has no native apps and no room account.
The connectors do not behave like the Studio X72. Per the HP specification the HDMI input and the line in and line out are not supported, the HDMI outputs are for provisioning support only and the USB-A ports are disabled by default.
The device is 840 mm long and weighs 3.3 kg, mounting has to be resolved at design stage.
The device ships in white, the Studio X range is black. The standard manufacturer warranty is one year.

Studio V72 has no native apps and is always the audio and camera of a laptop. Studio X72 is a room system with native Teams, Zoom and Google Meet and its own room account. In large meeting rooms the room system requirement is more common, so confirm with the customer which one they actually want before ordering.

HDMI, line in and USB-A

The presence of connectors does not mean they work as they would on a room system. Per the HP specification the HDMI input is not supported, line in and line out are not supported, the HDMI outputs are for provisioning support only and the USB-A ports are disabled by default and can be enabled in the Poly Lens app. Do not plan on integration with room audio equipment or on driving the display through the video bar.

USB cable to the user

In a large room the laptop is usually far from the video bar. The length and routing of the USB cable has to be resolved at design stage, we are happy to recommend a suitable extension.

Colour and mounting

Poly Studio V72 ships in white. A wall mount kit is included, for any other placement we will recommend a solution for the specific installation.

Room depth against the 7.62 m pickup range, USB cable routing to the user position, wall load capacity and mounting method, acoustics of a large space, backlight. We are happy to assess it.

Consider another model

Studio V52 for a medium meeting room, Studio V12 for a small room. If the customer wants a room system with its own account and native apps, that is the Studio X72.

No native application

It has no native Teams, Zoom or Google Meet and does not sign in to a room account. That is what the Studio X72 does.

Type of solution: whether the customer wants a USB video bar or a room system with its own account. That is the difference between the V72 and the X72.
Display feed and room audio: the picture has to come from the laptop, the HDMI outputs are for provisioning only, and line in and line out are not supported

Why does the Studio V72 have two cameras?

One camera with a wide 140° diagonal field of view captures the overall view of the room, the other with a narrower 78° diagonal field of view brings more distant participants closer. The Poly DirectorAI smart camera switches between them as the situation requires.
