Description

A large meeting room without a cabinet full of hardware

Poly Studio X72 is intended for large meeting rooms, that is spaces up to roughly 8.5 × 4.6 metres. Cameras, microphones and speakers sit in one unit and meetings run directly on the device, with no computer in the room. Installation means connecting the displays, the network and power, and configuring the platform, the room account and the controls. For the customer this means that even a large room is served by one device from one supplier.

Two cameras for two different views

Studio X72 has two 20-megapixel cameras, one with a wide 140° diagonal field of view and one with a narrower 78° view. The wide camera covers the whole room while the narrow one brings the active speaker closer without losing detail. Poly DirectorAI provides automatic framing of individuals (people framing) and of the whole group (group framing) as well as active speaker tracking (speaker framing). Digital zoom is 7.3x and the lens cover is integrated into the body.

Audio for the whole room

Four microphones, two MEMS and two second-order, pick up voices at a range of up to 7.6 metres. The speaker array combines mid speakers with a sensitivity of 83 dB and tweeters with a sensitivity of 89 dB, so the audio covers even a deep room. For unusually irregular rooms there is a line input for an optional external microphone.

Teams, Zoom or Google Meet, as the customer chooses

The device runs native apps for Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet. The platform decision is therefore not a hardware decision: the platform is chosen during configuration and can later be changed in settings. In Poly App mode, standards-based SIP and H.323 up to 6 Mbps are also available. Content can be connected by cable over the HDMI input, and over USB the video bar serves as camera and audio for a connected laptop.

Limits worth telling the customer

The video bar is powered by an AC adapter, not over PoE. A socket is needed by the display.
The touch controller is not in the box; for native Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms mode it is ordered separately.
A weight of 3.3 kg and a width of over 84 cm place demands on the load capacity and width of the mounting position under the display.
The standard manufacturer warranty on this model is one year.

Controls

For native Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms mode allow for the Poly TC10 touch controller (875K5AA black, 875J5AA#AC3 white). It is not in the video bar box and the room will not work well without it.

Mounting

The wall mount kit is included. VESA mounting (875L2AA) and placement on a table or cabinet (875L3AA) use separate kits. With a width of over 84 cm and a weight of 3.3 kg, check the load capacity of the structure.

Generation

Studio X72 is the current generation and replaces Studio X70. We recommend X72 for new projects and X70 only where the customer is extending an existing installation.

Large rooms

For rooms beyond the recommended size or with an irregular floor plan it pays to review the design in advance. The answer is usually the optional external microphone on the line input, not a bigger video bar.

The device always runs in one of these modes, they do not run side by side. Changing the native platform is a configuration step in the device settings, not switching during a meeting.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Studio X72 and X70?

Poly Studio X72 is the current generation and replaces Studio X70. Both have dual 20 MP cameras with 140° and 78° fields of view; X72 adds Wi-Fi to the ax standard, HDMI 2.0 outputs and an input for an optional microphone. We recommend X72 for new projects.

Do I need a separate PC with Studio X72?

No, in native mode Poly Studio X72 needs no separate PC. The Teams, Zoom and Google Meet apps run on the device itself. A laptop is only needed in USB mode.

Is a mount included?

The Poly Studio X72 box contains a wall mount kit and two HDMI cables. The VESA kit (875L2AA) and the table stand (875L3AA) are not included.

Can the video bar be powered over PoE?

No, Poly Studio X72 is powered by the supplied AC adapter. A socket is therefore needed by the display.
