Overview

A small room where you just bring your laptop

Poly Studio V12 is designed for small rooms and workspaces where users bring their own laptop. The device connects with a single USB-C cable and the meeting runs in whatever application the user has on their computer. For the customer that means a low entry investment, no licences and no dependency on a single communication platform.

This is not a room system

This is the most important difference from the Poly Studio X range. Studio V12 has no native Teams, Zoom or Google Meet application and does not sign in to a room account. It is always the camera, microphones and speaker of the connected computer. That is exactly why it works with any communication platform, which is practical in meeting rooms with external visitors.

Video and audio for a small room

The 20 megapixel camera with a 132° diagonal field of view also covers a short room where participants sit close to the device. The Poly DirectorAI smart camera offers automatic people framing, group framing and active speaker tracking. Four digital MEMS microphones pick up voices up to 4.57 metres away.

Power has to be added

Studio V12 is powered either by a PoE++ injector with an Ethernet cable, or by a USB-C power adapter. Neither is included, the official manufacturer name of this order code is "No Power Supply". Power therefore has to be resolved at design stage, not during installation. The network port is used for power and for management through Poly Lens, not for carrying calls.

Limits and what to tell the customer

No power supply in the box. A PoE++ injector or a USB-C power adapter is required and neither is supplied.
This is not a room system. The meeting is always run by the connected computer, the device has no native apps and no room account.
Pickup up to 4.57 m is intended for a small room, a meeting room calls for Studio V52 or V72.
The camera has fixed focus and digital zoom, not optical. The standard manufacturer warranty is one year.

V or X

The two ranges are easy to confuse. Studio V has no native apps and is always the audio and camera of a laptop. Studio X is a room system with native Teams, Zoom and Google Meet and its own room account. Confirm with the customer which one they actually want before ordering.

Colour

Poly Studio V12 ships in white, unlike the black Studio X range. Where meeting rooms have a unified look, flag this in advance.

Mounting

A removable monitor clamp is included. The wall and VESA mount kit (875L6AA) and the table stand (875L5AA) are not.

Good fit

Check the design

Power availability, meaning PoE++ or a socket for the USB-C adapter, a room deeper than 4.57 m, hard acoustics, backlight from a window. We are happy to assess it.

Consider another model

Studio V52 for a medium meeting room, Studio V72 for a large space. If the customer wants a room system with its own account and native apps, that is the Studio X range.

Power: PoE++ injector or USB-C adapter, neither is in the box. Resolve it at design stage.
Type of solution: whether the customer wants a USB video bar or a room system with its own account. That is the difference between the V and X ranges.
Room: depth against the 4.57 m pickup range, position of the most distant participant, acoustics and backlight from windows
Laptop and applications: USB-C port, the 1.83 m cable length against the user's position, setting the default camera, microphone and speaker on users' computers
Mounting and colour: the monitor clamp from the box, or the 875L6AA kit or the 875L5AA stand, white finish against the black Studio X range
Operation: registration in Poly Lens, firmware update before handover, user training and a handover test with a real call
