Overview

Optical zoom is the difference

Most video bars and smart cameras work with digital zoom, meaning a crop of the image. Poly Studio E60 has 12× optical zoom, so a participant at the far end of a long table or in the back row of a classroom is still sharp. That is the main reason to choose this camera.

For long and irregular spaces

The E60 is a PTZ camera, meaning it pans and tilts. It suits halls, classrooms, boardrooms with a long table and anywhere a specific spot has to be covered, such as a lectern. Poly DirectorAI provides group framing and presenter tracking.

A camera for a configuration

The camera connects over a USB-B port to a compute unit or a computer. The network port supports PoE+ power. The camera is compatible with the Poly Studio G62 modular system. We recommend handling call audio with a separate audio device or IP microphones, and we are happy to help with the design.

Power

Power either from a 12 V adapter or from a PoE+ injector. It does not, however, list a power adapter among the box contents, so plan for PoE+ in the design, or get in touch and we will confirm power for the specific installation.

Limits and what to tell the customer

We will confirm with your order whether a power adapter is in the box. Plan for PoE+, or have the adapter confirmed.
Narrower field of view. 78.1° diagonal will not cover a wide room. For the wide shot the configuration needs a Studio E70.
Call audio has to be handled separately.
The connection is USB-B, a different connector from the newer cameras. The standard manufacturer warranty is one year.

⚑ atlantis note

E60 or E70

E60 is about magnification: 12× optical zoom, narrower field of view, PTZ. E70 is about width: two lenses at 140° and 78° and digital zoom. Large halls often use both, the E70 for the overall view and the E60 for the close-up of the speaker. We are happy to advise what makes sense in a specific room.

Power

Power from a 12 V adapter or a PoE+ injector, but the adapter is not among the stated box contents. Budget for a PoE+ port or an injector.

Audio

The camera has a two-element beamforming microphone array. For call audio we nevertheless recommend a separate solution, meaning IP microphones with a Poly Studio G62 system or an audio device in a USB deployment.

Mounting

A wall mount kit is included. With a PTZ camera the mounting height and axis matter, so go through them with us at design stage so the camera does not shoot participants from above.

Good fit

A long room or hall that needs a sharp close-up of a distant speaker, coverage of a specific spot, adding a close-up to a wide-angle camera.

Is the zoom optical or digital?

Optical, 12×. That is the main reason to choose this camera for long rooms and halls.

Is a power supply included?

We will confirm with your order whether a power adapter is in the box. The box contains the camera, a wall mount kit, a 5 m Ethernet cable, a 2 m USB-B to USB-A cable, an infrared remote control, a quick start guide and a warranty card. Plan for PoE+ power or an injector.

Will the E60 cover a wide meeting room?

Not on its own. The field of view is 78.1° diagonal, which is narrower. For the wide shot add a Studio E70 or choose an all-in-one Studio X video bar.

Does the camera's microphone array replace room microphones?

We do not recommend relying on it. The camera has a two-element beamforming microphone array, but we recommend handling call audio with IP microphones or an audio device.

What does the camera connect to?

Over a USB-B port to a compute unit or a computer. The camera is compatible with the Poly Studio G62 modular system.

Can pan and zoom be controlled?

Yes. An infrared remote control is included and the camera can also be controlled from the system.
