The UC branch connects to a computer only, through the D400 adapter. If the customer also needs a desk phone, the Office branch with a desk base is the right one. It is the most common mix-up when ordering the Savi range. The 8200 range is the previous generation; the current one is the 8400.

Overview

DECT that fits in a bag

The Savi 8200 UC uses the same wireless technology as the Office branch, that is DECT with a long range and no sharing of the band with Wi-Fi. Instead of a desk base, though, it connects through a small D400 USB adapter. The headset is therefore not tied to one desk and can be taken to another site or home, where plugging the adapter into a laptop is all it takes.

It cannot do a desk phone, and that is by design

The UC branch connects a computer only. Anyone who also needs a desk phone and a mobile belongs with the Office branch and its desk base. It is the main decision for the whole Savi range and it is worth asking before the order is placed.

An honest figure for range

The range has two figures: up to 180 metres in open space and up to 55 metres in a typical office environment. The second is the one to design with. Partition walls, glass and lift shafts cut the range.

Limits and what to tell the customer

The headset cannot connect a desk phone. The D400 adapter serves a computer only. For a desk phone and a mobile, the Office branch is the one.
This is the previous generation. A new deployment belongs with the current 8400 or 7400 range.
The D400 adapter is small and easy to lose. Without it the headset does not work with a computer. We carry a spare under code 8J8V7AA#ABB.
Range in an office is 55 m, not 180 m. The higher figure is for open space.

UC or Office: ask about the desk phone

It is the one question to ask first about the Savi range. Does the customer have desk phones? If so, they need the Office branch with a desk base. If not, the UC branch is simpler and cheaper. A mix-up only shows up at the user and is settled by exchanging goods.

Order a spare D400 adapter up front

Adapter 8J8V7AA#ABB is a small USB part without which the headset does not work with a computer. For a multi-user deployment we recommend keeping one or two in stock, or a user waits days for a part worth a few hundred crowns.

When the 8200 UC still, and when the 8400 already

Offer the 8200 range where the customer is adding to an installed base and holds the same batteries and cushions in stock. For a new workplace or a fleet refresh, go to the current range. Spare parts do not carry over between generations.
