What it is for
A QD headset does not connect directly. The QD connector is a break point in the middle of the cable and the other half belongs to it, ending in a connector to suit the target device. This cable is that other half, with a 3.5 mm jack connector.
In practice it is ordered in two situations. Either the customer is buying a QD headset and needs to attach it to a specific device, or the original cable has worn out or been lost. On contact centre headsets the cable is the most frequently replaced part, being stressed by daily unplugging.

What a QD connector is
QD, or Quick Disconnect, is a break-away connector in the middle of a headset cable. The user unplugs from the phone with one click without taking the headset off, and plugs back in on returning. A QD headset cannot be connected to anything on its own, it always needs a cable or adapter carrying the other end to suit what it plugs into.
