What it is for
An electronic hookswitch is a cable between the desk phone and the base of a wireless headset. It carries the incoming call signal to the headset and the answer or end command back. Without one the headset still carries the audio, but the call has to be answered by hand on the phone.
In practice it is the difference between a headset that gets used and one that sits in a drawer. For positions where the user moves around the office or the workshop, an EHS is the condition on which a wireless headset makes sense at all. So order it with the headset, not after a complaint.
⚑ atlantis note
What an EHS is for
Without an electronic hookswitch the user has to answer the call on the phone before speaking into the headset. With EHS they answer with a button on the headset itself, even away from the desk. On Savi and CS wireless headsets that is the main reason customers buy them, which is why the adapter is ordered together with the headset.
Pick the adapter by the phone, not by the headset
Each phone brand has its own adapter type and they are not interchangeable. Always establish the exact phone model, not just the brand, and pick the code from that. If you are not sure, we will verify it for you.
TAA version
The code is listed as a TAA version, under the US Trade Agreements Act. It carries no benefit for a Czech customer and is technically the same device. Where a cheaper non-TAA code exists, prefer that one.

Frequently asked questions
Does it fit my phone?
The APV-63 adapter is intended for Avaya phones. Supported models: Avaya 2410, 4630, 6416D+M and 6424D+M; Avaya 1408, 1416, 1608, 1616, 9404, 9406, 9504, 9508, 9608, 9611, 9620, 9620L, 9621, 9630, 9640, 9641G, 9650 and 9670. Tell us the phone model and we will confirm compatibility before you order.
Does it work with every Poly headset?
No. This adapter is intended for the Savi 700, CS500, CS500-XD a MDA200 ranges. On corded headsets an EHS makes no sense, it is meant for wireless headsets with a base.
What happens without an EHS?
The headset still works, but the call has to be answered by hand on the phone. The user therefore has to be at the desk when it rings, which removes most of the point of a wireless headset.
