The whole 5200 range has a 3.5 mm plug and a travel case as standard. Unlike the 3200 and 3300 ranges, where both are paid for with a trailing five in the model number. Codes ending in A6 are bulk packaging with identical contents.

Description

The higher tier of the corded range

The Blackwire 5200 sits above the 3200 and 3300 ranges. It adds dynamic EQ, which adjusts the voice during a call, leatherette ear cushions over memory foam that isolate the room passively, and as standard a 3.5 mm plug with a travel case. It is meant for the user who wears the headset daily and for whom it is the main working tool.

Three certifications, not one

The 5200 order codes carry Zoom, Google Meet and Works With Chromebook certification. That is the widest set in the corded Blackwire offering. The 3300 range has only Zoom on its universal codes, the 3200 only Works With Chromebook. If the customer runs on Google Meet and requires certification, the 5200 is the only corded Blackwire that documents it.

When the 8225 is the better call

The 5200 range isolates the room passively, that is by the shape and material of the cushions. It has no active noise cancelling, which in the corded offering only the Blackwire 8225 has. If the customer sits in a noisy open-plan office or a call centre, passive isolation may not be enough and it is better to go straight to the 8225.

Limits and what to tell the customer

The headset has no active noise cancelling. The isolation is passive, active belongs to the Blackwire 8225 alone.
It is heavier, 165 g against 119 g on the 3200 range in the stereo configuration.
This range does not carry Microsoft Teams certification. For Teams the 3300 or the 8225 in the Teams version is the model.
It is the previous generation. New deployments belong to the Mission 600 range.

⚑ atlantis note

Teams is a weakness here, not a strength

The 5200 range has three certifications, but Microsoft Teams is not among them. With a customer who runs on Teams and requires certification contractually, that is disqualifying. Offer the Blackwire 3320 or the 8225 in the Teams version instead, where certification applies at code level.

Passive isolation is not the same as ANC

Leatherette cushions over memory foam damp the room, but that is not active noise cancelling. Explain this upfront to a customer who talks about "a headset that shuts out the open plan", otherwise they will be disappointed after deployment. For real ANC the corded offering has only the Blackwire 8225.

Bulk packaging makes sense from tens of units

Codes ending in A6 are bulk. The contents are the same, only the packaging differs, being leaner and without a retail box. In volume deployment it saves space, unpacking time and waste. Codes ending in AA belong to single sales.

Suitable

Does the headset have active noise cancelling?

No. The isolation is passive and comes from the leatherette cushions over memory foam. In the Poly corded offering active noise cancelling belongs only to the Blackwire 8225, where it is adjustable in three levels.

Is the headset certified for Microsoft Teams?

No, the order codes in this range carry Zoom, Google Meet and Works With Chromebook certification. For Microsoft Teams the 3300 range or the 8225 in the Teams version is the model.

Can I connect the headset to a mobile?

What does a code ending in A6 mean?

Is Blackwire still current?

No, the successor is the Mission range. We carry the Blackwire 5200 for customers who run it and buy the same ear cushions for it. For new higher-tier deployments we recommend the Mission 600.
