Description
The whole small room in one view
The Jabra PanaCast 40 VBS stitches the image from two cameras into a panorama with a field of view of 180° horizontal and 50° vertical, at up to 3840 × 1080 px. People sitting at the sides of the bar in a huddle room stay in the picture. The camera works in Intelligent Zoom, Virtual Director and Panoramic View modes, plus Single-Stream Dynamic Composition and, for Zoom Rooms, Multi-stream Dynamic Composition. The bar also supports a second external USB camera.
A native meeting room system for Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms
The bar runs Android 13 built on MDEP and in Appliance mode it is a standalone meeting room system with its own room account, no computer needed. It is certified for Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms. The room platform, that is Microsoft Teams, Zoom or BYOD, is chosen during installation. The device is managed from Teams Admin Center, Zoom Device Management, the Jabra WebConsole over HTTPS or from the cloud.
A guest laptop in BYOD mode
In BYOD mode the laptop connects with a USB cable and an HDMI cable, and the bar then serves as its camera, microphones and speaker. HDMI alone without USB means local screen sharing on the room display only. A 3 m USB-C to USB-C cable and a 1.83 m HDMI cable are in the box.
Strengths and limits
Strengths
A 180° view, the outer seats at the table stay visible in a small room
Native Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms, plus BYOD mode for a laptop
A compact bar weighing 1.8 kg, wall mount in the box
Support for a second external USB camera
Limits and what to tell the customer
Rooms up to 4.5 × 4.5 m. For a medium room the PanaCast 55 VBS is the fit.
The zoom is digital, up to 4x.
One speaker and one HDMI output. For two displays the PanaCast 55 VBS is the fit.
The platform version and the controller are set by the order code. The 870x codes have no Control IP in the box.
The Control IP is powered over PoE, the bar by the supplied 12 V DC power supply. Do not use third-party power supplies.
⚑ atlantis note
Which code to order
Three things decide it. Configuration, that is the 872x system with the controller or the 870x bar only. Platform version to match the platform the room will run, that is UC, Microsoft Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms. Power region, for the Czech Republic the EMEA version with the -231 suffix.
Bar without a controller
For the 870x bars add the Jabra Control IP touch controller, 8010-239 in the UC version, 8011-239 for Microsoft Teams Rooms or 8012-239 for Zoom Rooms. We recommend the version that matches the platform of the bar.
PoE for the controller belongs in the project
The Control IP is powered over PoE IEEE 802.3af and needs 15.4 W from an 802.3af switch or better. If the switch in the room has no PoE, add the injector 14402-20 and the Ethernet cable 14302-26.
BYOD needs both cables
For the laptop to use the camera, microphones and speaker of the bar, it has to be connected over both USB and HDMI. When a user plugs in HDMI only, they just share the screen on the room display. At handover this is worth one sentence in the user guide.

Good fit
A huddle room or a small meeting room up to 4.5 × 4.5 m, a room with its own Microsoft Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms account, use where guests occasionally connect their own laptop.
Verify
Which platform the room will run. Whether a controller is needed or the bar alone will do. Whether PoE is available at the controller. How the bar will be mounted, that is wall, VESA, table or tripod. Whether the room needs one display or two.
Consider another model
PanaCast 55 VBS for a medium room and two displays. PanaCast Room Kit for a large room. PanaCast U30 for a small room where meetings are run from a laptop over USB only.
The "Verify" and "Consider another model" cards come from the experience of the atlantis team.

The atlantis team will help with every point. With the PanaCast 40 VBS the usual questions are the platform version and PoE for the controller, and both are best settled before the order.
Management and services
Management follows the platform: in native mode the device is managed from the administration of the platform the room runs.
Jabra Plus: cloud management of Jabra meeting room devices, that is scheduled bulk firmware updates, configuration, status monitoring, remote restart and an inventory of devices and rooms. Support and the scope of management differ by model, so check both with us for the specific device and system.
atlantis services for partners
atlantis is a direct importer and distributor, and we deliver projects through a network of specialist partners. The services below are therefore offered to the partner, not to the end customer. The partner sets the scope. On one project we take on the whole delivery, on another we cover just the part the partner currently lacks capacity or specialisation for, and on a third the partner manages alone and uses us only for a consultation.
Before the decision: a consultation on choosing the system and a comparison of the suitable options. The recommendation is built on the size and the character of the room, that is light, acoustics, shape, seating layout and furnishing, then on headcount and on how meetings are actually run there. We offer a live demonstration at our premises, which the partner can bring their customer to, and where it is warranted a test installation, that is a proof of concept.
Delivery and installation: transport, professional mounting and the work that goes with it, that is cabling, installation material, brackets and room alterations. We handle the installation in full, or support the partner's own team where needed.
Network readiness and security: we advise on preparing the network for the demands of two-way real-time video, that is throughput, latency and traffic prioritisation, and on securing the communication.
Configuration and integration: setting up the communication platform and the room account, connecting to the network, and advice on linking and integrating third-party software and hardware.
Training and documentation: training prepared to match the user's role, that is one thing for room users and another for administrators, plus preparation of both project and user documentation.
Service and support after the sale: our certified team in Czech, available to the partner throughout the equipment's life. We handle a warranty claim with the manufacturer on the partner's behalf.
Warranty
The standard Jabra warranty on this product is 2 years from the date of purchase.

FAQ
What is the difference between the 872x and 870x codes?
The Jabra PanaCast 40 VBS with an 872x code is the system, and its box also contains the Jabra Control IP touch controller. An 870x code is the bar only without the controller, which is ordered separately as 8010-239, 8011-239 or 8012-239 depending on the platform.
How do the UC, Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms versions differ?
The Jabra PanaCast 40 VBS is ordered in the version for the platform the room will run, and the platform is chosen during installation. So order the version that matches the customer's platform. Whether the version can be changed after purchase we will confirm with your order.
Does the room need a computer?
The Jabra PanaCast 40 VBS in Appliance mode needs no computer, it runs Android 13 and the room has its own Microsoft Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms account. A laptop is connected only in BYOD mode, with both a USB and an HDMI cable.
How are the bar and the controller powered?
The Jabra PanaCast 40 VBS is powered by the supplied 12 V DC power supply with a 100 to 240 V input, and third-party power supplies should not be used. The Control IP is powered over PoE IEEE 802.3af at 15.4 W from a switch or from the injector 14402-20.
Is the zoom optical?
The Jabra PanaCast 40 VBS has a digital zoom of up to 4x, with Intelligent Zoom. A second external USB camera can be connected to the bar.
Can the bar drive two displays?
The Jabra PanaCast 40 VBS has one HDMI 2.0 output and one HDMI 2.0 input. If the customer needs two displays, offer the PanaCast 55 VBS with two HDMI outputs.
