Description
The brain of the room, not an office computer
A Room Compute is a computer meant to run continuously in a meeting room and host a meeting platform. It is not for a user's work, nobody logs into it and nobody works on it. It runs Windows 11 IoT Enterprise, the edition of Windows meant for fixed-function devices, and it is managed centrally as part of the room. That is the fundamental difference against improvising with an ordinary office computer, which is sometimes done in meeting rooms and ends with updates in the middle of a meeting.
The order code sets the platform
The computer ships either for Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows or for Zoom Rooms, and these are separate order codes. This code is the Microsoft Teams Rooms version. The Zoom version is DS1R5AW and its code name says, for safety, that it is not for MTR. So settle the platform before ordering, not at installation, because swapping means exchanging goods rather than reinstalling.
The control panel is not in the box
Besides the computer, a room needs a touch control panel from which the meeting is started. That is not part of the box and is ordered separately, in our offering the Poly TC10, or the GC8 on older sets. Without a panel the room is driven from the computer's keyboard, which in a shared meeting room means in practice that nobody starts it. It is the most frequently forgotten line in a whole room budget.
Strengths and limits
Strengths
An Intel Core Ultra 7 processor with an AI compute unit, that is the current generation
32 GB of memory, twice as much as the previous Studio G9 generation
Windows 11 IoT Enterprise, the edition meant for fixed-function devices
The power supply and cables are in the box
A compact HP Mini form factor that hides behind a screen
Limits and what to tell the customer
The TC10 control panel is not in the box and without it the room is practically unusable.
The platform is set by the order code. This code is Microsoft Teams Rooms, the Zoom version is DS1R5AW.
Neither a camera nor audio is included. A Room Compute is only the computer, the room still needs a camera and audio.
The warranty is one year, and on a set costing tens of thousands the Poly+ Partner programme is worth considering.
We do not state the ports, dimensions and weight for this order code.
⚑ atlantis note
A meeting room is a set, not one code
A Room Compute is one of four things the room needs. Missing from it are the camera, the audio, the control panel and the screen. A quote holding only the computer leads to a room that does not work on installation day and to an unpleasant phone call. So go through the whole set with the customer, not just this line. We are happy to design it against the room size and the number of participants.
Settle the platform before the performance
The first question is not how much memory the computer has, but what the company holds meetings on. Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms are separate order codes and there is no reinstalling from one to the other. On code DS1R5AW the price list stresses this in the item name with the words "NOT FOR MTR", which itself suggests how often the mix-up happens.
The processor tells you the generation
There are two generations in the offering. The Studio 5 and Studio 7 Room Compute are the current range with Intel Core Ultra processors and AI support. The Studio G9 PC and Zoom Room kit PC are the previous generation with a 12th generation Core i7 and 16 GB of memory. For new projects we recommend the current range; the older generation makes sense where a customer is topping up an existing fleet and needs matching sets.
What room it suits
Recommended use | an HP Mini computer for running the Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows platform in a meeting room |
|---|---|
Position in the portfolio | video conferencing, the Poly Group PC meeting room group, the current Room Compute range |
How it differs from the other codes in the group | against the Studio 5 it carries a higher specification, against the previous Studio G9 generation it has an Intel Core Ultra processor with AI support and twice the memory; against code DS1R5AW it differs only in platform |
Suitable
A meeting room where the company holds meetings on Microsoft Teams and wants a full room with its own computer, camera and control panel rather than improvising with a laptop.
Verify
Which platform the company holds meetings on, Teams or Zoom. Whether the quote also holds a TC10 control panel, a camera and audio. What screen the room has and how the computer will be mounted. Whether the customer wants extended Poly+ Partner support.
Consider another model
The Studio 5 Room Compute for a smaller room with lower demands. The Studio G9 PC where a customer is topping up an existing fleet and needs matching sets. A Poly Studio X as a solution without a separate computer, where everything sits in one device.
The "Verify" and "Consider another model" cards come from the experience of the atlantis team.

FAQ
Is a control panel in the box?

Can I switch the computer from Microsoft Teams to Zoom?
The platform is set by the order code. This code is the Microsoft Teams Rooms version, the Zoom Rooms version is DS1R5AW. On the Zoom code the code name says, for safety, that it is not for MTR. So settle the platform before ordering.
What else do I need for the room to work?
